I listened to a video by Ryan Deiss ( a marketer ) and the list building technique he talked about sounded so good, and applies to so many businesses that I thought I should distribute it further. This applies to any area of marketing, and if you are selling things, you should definitely work on building a list of prospects that you can continue to sell to.
The technique is to use direct mail ( postcards or letters ) to drive people to a page on your site. Offer them something in exchange for their email address.
You can search for lists of buyers in your niche at lists.nextmark.com and rent the list.
Now this might not sound that exciting, but the thing is that people who have bought previously in a niche are are far more likely to buy from you, than people who haven’t. So the list you build is composed of buyers – not window shoppers !
